Google started selling prototype of Google Glass to qualified “Glass Explorers” in US on April, 2013 for $1500. On January 15, 2015, Google announced that it stopped production of Google Glass prototype but remained committed to the development of the product.

Google’s smart glasses just can’t keep a single name. The project initially called Project Glass, was renamed to Google Glass in 2013, and is now called Project Aura. Google discontinued Glass earlier this year, now it named it project Aura with the intentions of developing a successor of Google Glass version 1.

  1. Touchpad: A touchpad is located on the side of Google glass alowing users to control the device by swiping through a timeline like interface displayed on screen. Sliding forward shows past events like phone calls, photos and Sliding backward shows currents events like weather.
  2. Camera: Google glass has 5-megapixel camera has abiloty to take pictures and record 720p HD video. It control by voice command, Say Okay Glass, take a picture. It will automatically capture a picture which you are watching in front of you.
  3. Display: The Google Glass version 2 uses a liquid crystal on silicon, field-sequential color system, LED illuminated display. The display’s LED illumination is first P-polarized and then shines through the in-coupling polarizing bean splitter (PBS) to the LCoS panel.
  4. MyGlass: Google offers a companion Android and iOS app called MyGlass, which allows the user to configure and manage the device.
  5. Voice activation: Other than the touchpad, Google Glass can be controlled using “voice actions”. To activate Glass, wearers tilt their heads 30° upward (which can be altered for preference) or tap the touchpad, and say “O.K., Glass.” Once Glass is activated, wearers can say an action, such as “Take a picture”, “Record a video”, “Hangout with [person/Google+ circle]”, “Google ‘What year was Wikipedia founded?'”, “Give me directions to the this place”, and “Send a message to specific person”.

In February 2015, The New York Times reported that Google Glass was being redesigned by former Apple executive Tony Fadell, and that it would not be released until he deemed it to be “perfect.”
