Engineer Made Real-Life Version of Thor’s Hammer That Only He Can Lift: Have you ever thought about having a Mjölnir of yourself while watching Thor or Avengers Movies? Well an engineer named Allen Pan has realised your dream by designing a practically working Thor’s hammer. For picking-up this hammer you no need to be worthy as Thor, but should pass a Fingerprint sensor test. In Marvel comics, Thore’s hammer Mjolnir had been so popular for being able to be wielded by only the worthy person.

But an electrical engineer has figured out a concept and replicated Thor’s hammer Mjölnir, that actually can be weilded by him only. Pan also shared the practical experiment on YouTube.

Now you don’t need to have supernatural powers and had to be from some race advanced, Pan made it possible using electromagnet and fingerprint sensor.

To design the hammer, he created a strong magnet by putting a Microwave oven transformer electromagnet inside the head of the hammer. This transformer uses electricity to produce strong magnetic field via electromagnet coil. This produced magnetic field is so strong that when you put the hammer on a metal surface, the hammer seems much heavier as compare to its actual weight and becomes immovable. To make this experiment work, you need a locked metal platform or surface.Engineer Made Real-Life Version of Thor's Hammer That Only He Can Lift

There is a Touch sensor installed on handle that senses anyone’s touch and sends out signal to Arduino Pro Mini and activates a Solid State Relay(SSR). This SSR works as a switch and activates the electromagnet whenever anyone touches the hammer.

Now how can anyone will be able to move the hammer? For this Pan has embedded a Fingerprint Sensor in the handle. When he touches it hammer’s controller recognizes him as the worthy and deactivates the electromagnet by switching-off the relay. This gives capability to Pan only, to pick the hammer(the working model of Mjolnir).

As once Arthur C. Clark said that “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Even if Pan’s Mjolnir can’t do other things mentioned in Comics like producing lightning or smash mountains down but still it can give base for many techniques to avoid theft etc.

In the video that Pan shared on YouTube, he set him experiment hammer on a locked manhole in a California Street and asked passersby to try to lift the hammer. As noone got suceeded in it but the results were very funny.
