Ford unveiled an all-new app called FordPass, which is truly a revolutionary App: From last couple of years, brands have been talking about their another ability as well, that is getting people mobile products as well. Now, however, Ford came out of all the odds and is putting its stamp on modern mobility.
On Monday, Ford unveiled an all-new app called FordPass, which is truly a revolutionary App and aims do for mobility what iTunes did for music. Ford says it want FordPass to do for the car ownership experience just like it has been done by iTunes for music lovers that brought everything together under an easy to use platform.
The app, which is free will come in around April this year for both Ford owners and non-owners alike. With it, the app users will be able to use the app to get around more easily thanks to car-sharing features and more.

FordPass members will be able to book parking spots in cities and airports before reaching, schedule Ford vehicle maintenance, speak directly with guides, and find out more about Ford products and services nearby them. The system can book a parking space directly with ParkWhiz and Parkopedia and access airport parking through FlightCar. We’re imagining that things like free fries from McDonald’s or a coupon for a Big Gulp from 7-Eleven — two of the program partners — could be offered as part of its membership reward program.

FordPass incorporates many different separate sub-systems like FordGuides, FordPay and FlightCar.
FordGuide is very much similar to General Motors’ OnStar will help you solve your mobility concerns along with it, helping you with navigation, roadside assistance or restaurant reservations. Apart from it the FordGuide will be able to answer questions via text or calls at all hours.
FordPay is essentially what the name suggests: A way to pay for features of FordPass. With this initial introduction of FordPass, Ford has partnered with McDonald’s and 7-Eleven to make consuming fast food easier but not big equity investments to match General Motors’ $500 million investment in ride hailing start-up Lyft.
FlightCar, to me, might be the most interesting part of the FordPass app. At first, it’ll be used to help you share or borrow a vehicle when you travel, which is neat. However, down the road, it’ll be utilized for ride sharing, car sharing and multi-modal transportation. That means, in the future, FlightCar will get you from door to door anyway it needs to — from ride share to public light-rail to bicycle.
