Google Reportedly Working on Its Own Smartphone to Take on iPhone: After a long time dilly-dallying with the idea of producing their own phones, Google is finally getting ready to release a lineup of smartphones under the banner of its own name. As per Gadgets 360 report the phones will start surfacing from later this September. India and a handful of other markets will be the first to get the phones. Details about the launch in other markets remain unclear.

The reports say Google is coming out with two Android Nougat powered smartphones, one with a 5-inch display and other with a 5.5-inch display. It is likely to come out with 32GB and 128GB storage variants. All other specifications are still murky.

The specifications stated in the report matches the specs of the Google ‘Sailfish’ and ‘Marlin’, rumors about which has been getting stronger day by day. But the Google phones will not be manufactured with the ‘Nexus’ name. Instead, it will launch carrying Google’s own name, even though it is allegedly being manufactured by HTC.

It will also launch with the new Google Now launcher, sans the Google search box. The all new Google Assistant will also be one of the headlining features of the phone.

The phones will come running Android Nougat out of the box and will feature a service that makes transferring data from iPhones much easier.

Google had earlier unveiled the Pixel C tablet under its moniker, and now it is likely that the search giant is entering the consumer smartphone market carrying their own name.
