We are going to use this system hidden router. By using these tricks you can share wired connection at home to smartphones, tablets, and other Wi-Fi supporting devices. In first method you only need a laptop with Windows 10 installed on it and a free software called Virtual Router that’s it. By using second method you can convert your personal computer(Laptop or desktop) into Wifi Hotspot using command prompt. Let us discuss each method one by one in detail.
How To Turn Your Windows PC into a Wi-Fi Router
USING SOFTWARE TOOL
First method that we are going to use is Software based which is the easiest way to turn your PC into WiFi hotspot. Virtual Router is the best software for getting access to hidden inbuilt router and it’s FREE. This app is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows Server 12. Let us see step by step procedure to do it:
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL VIRTUAL ROUTER
First step that we do is visit Virtual Router App’s website and download the download the free version and install it. Being open-source version it has some limitation but you don’t need to worry about, as all the functions required to accomplish our task will work fine.

STEP 2: ENABLE NETWORK SHARING
To avoid facing any issue during network sharing enable network sharing options. To do this
- Go to Start Menu.
- Search for View Network Connections.
- Search the connection you want to share from dropdown options.
- Right click on the device and Choose properties
- Open the Sharing page check the box against “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection”. You are done.
STEP 3: CONFIGURING YOUR NETWORK
Now launch the app and fill out the details the app window will ask for to configure your network like-Name of the network and password of your choice. The name of network will be same as that of Network name you are already using. For password you need to choose a 8 character long password as the security protocol it uses is WPA2. Now underneath password select the network you want to share from dropdown option. Depending upon the network type you are using choose differently. Whether it is a Ethernet Connection or connected through some Wi-Fi device select respectively.
Then click on Start Virtual Router button.
STEP 4: CONNECT FROM ANOTHER DEVICES
After completion of configuration, you are good to go for sharing. Just connect the devices you want to connect to this Wi-fi hotspot as usual by entering password.
Here on Virtual Router window you can also see the list of devices connected to it also disable the hotspot whenever you are done.
USING COMMAND PROMPT
In this method we are going to use some commands trickery that will turn your desktop or laptop into a Wi-fi hotspot. There is no need of any third-party tool. This method had been very successful till now, but still if you face any problem see the updated method in video attached(by TheHacker0007). Let us now discuss the step-by-step procedure:
STEP 1: GO TO COMMAND PROMPT
Command Prompt of your PC can be accessed in many ways, but most popular method is Press Window button+R, it will pop-up Run window. Type cmd(not case-sensitive) and press ENTER. Boom, your command window will open up.
STEP 2: RUN SOME COMMANDS
In command admin directory write following command replacing the SSID and key values with your network name and password of want to use:
COMMAND: netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=AdHoc key=password
Then run the below command to start the network sharing:
COMMAND: netsh wlan start hostednetwork
STEP 3: ENABLE NETWORK SHARING
If your network sharing is not enabled then make it enable, procedure for enabling it is same as I already told in STEP:2 of the first method. So I am not going to waste your time, just follow the same steps.
You are done with turning your wired internet connection into a Wi-Fi network. Connect your other devices with this network as usually. But keep the desktop or PC system running if you want to continue to use the network.
