Nike had announced these amazing shoes in March at its innovation conference. Nike CEO Mark Parker claimed at CNBC interview that self-lacing sneakers will be as big as self-driving cars in the near future, with both customer appeal and application.

The first model HyperAdapt 1.0 will feature the iconic adaptive fit technology, which senses when the wearer’s feet are inside the show using inbuilt pressure sensors and automatically starts tightening the laces until it senses an adequate value of resistance based on an “algorithmic pressure equation,” according to Wired. You don’t have to worry if these shoes will hack your feet with pressure or stay loose! Well, they won’t as you can customize settings using buttons near the tongue of the shoe.

The HyperAdapt 1.0 shoe also features LED lights in the sole to indicate when the shoe is tightening and if the battery is low. Of course, you have to charge these shoes like any other smart gadget. HyperAdapt 1.0 shoe take 3 hours to fully charge and will keep you running for 2 weeks.

It took a lot of efforts and a long research time of 11 years to develop this incredible piece of innovation and future technology.

“We’re talking about a project that’s maybe the most difficult in the history of footwear,” Nike VP Tinker Hatfield told Wired.
The concept of these self-lacing shoes is inspired from the 1989’s movie “Back to the Future II” which featured a futuristic design of self-lacing sneakers called the Nike Mag. Tech giant Nike also produced a few Nike Mag pieces and raffled them off for charity, they also sent a pair to prototype to Michael J. Fox . These shoes even raised a total of $6.75 million in campaign run to collect funds Parkinson’s disease research. Now Nike has successfully designed a more commercially intended design of these futuristic shoes and made them available for purchase.
