Motorola, now acquired by Lenovo is all set to unveil the next generation of Moto G. It will consist of two variants namely Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. It has been very successful with most of the models launched in the series. Thus, it is hoping to take the success to a new level with the launch of the latest model in the series. Lenovo launched the last generation of Moto G about ten months ago. Hence, all the fans were expecting and waiting for the launch of the next generation in this series. The wait is eventually over. Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will be unveiled at the start of the next month on March 7. It will be the occasion of the Mobile World Congress 2017. Let us have a look at the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus specifications and key features.
A quick look at the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus features
Lenovo came up with a larger screen of 5.5 inches with Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus but it has gone back to the 5-inch display in Moto G5. Moto G5 Plus is going to have a slightly larger display of 5.2 inches. The display would be sharp with 1080p and high pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. Gorilla Glass 3 will continue to offer good protection to the screen. Some users would obviously feel disappointed as there is no improvement in this segment.
The display size is surely going to affect the cost and thus we can expect a price difference of 3-5 thousand between the two models. Moto G5 is expected to be around Rs 10,000 while Moto G5 Plus around Rs 15,000.
Memory Segment in Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus
Unlike previous launches, there are some major differences in the two models that are going to be launched in this series. The internal memory storage is limited to 128 GB in Moto G5. However, Moto G5 Plus offers double storage space with 256 GB. The memory can always be extended by 128 GB using micro SD card. Also, the battery in Moto G5 is of 2800mAh with rapid charging. Moto G5 Plus offers a larger battery of 3000mAh and more importantly with Turbo Power charging.
The camera quality would improve a bit in Moto G5 Plus. It comes with dual autofocus pixels. Moto G5, however, carries the same camera quality. The rare camera would be of 13MP while the front camera of 5MP.
Speed and Power in Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus
The processing speed and power will get a lot of boost with an improved processor and 2 GB of RAM. Moto G5 Plus has an incredibly powerful 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, the best in the series. Moto G5 also has an improved 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor. This is probably the only area where there has been an immense improvement over the last model in this series. The size of RAM, however, does not get any boost.
Lenovo has stuck to the water repellent body and not the water resistant body as was offered with Moto G3. The fingerprint sensor has been finally included in both G5 and G5 Plus along with the other sensors. There may not be many significant improvements in Moto G5 and G5 Plus but, Android 7.0 Nougat in itself brings some great software features.
