Gotti’s User Reviews On Rotten Tomatoes Maybe Manipulated As Marketing Strategy To Salvage The Terrible Movie In Itself
Gotti’s User Reviews On Rotten Tomatoes Maybe Manipulated As Marketing Strategy To Salvage The Terrible Movie In Itself: These days marketing a product is not an easy job and manipulating viewers by manipulating movie ratings is also not a new thing. It has happened with Black Panther and Star Wars: The Last Jedi where a big group of online users was mobilized to downvote both movies on different platforms to hurt the rating of these movies. Rotten Tomatoes even gave a clarification regarding this vote brigading against Black Panther.
Something Suspicious Is Happening With Rotten Tomatoes User Reviews for Gotti
In case of Gotti which stars John Travolta as crime boss John Gotti and is directed by one of the guys from Entourage movie, it can be both ways as the movie is being annihilated by the critics on the Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is currently being scored at “0%” on Rotten Tomatoes by the critics. Critics actually just brutally killed the movie with their severe comments, some of the examples I’m sharing below.
To salvage the movie from these terrible ratings what the PR of Gotti did is even worse. Well, the complications arise due to the positive User Score which stands at 74% just under Incredibles 2. This surely looks suspicious to have such odd ratings, right!
One of the Reddit users posted a theory today on /r/movies subreddit crediting the Twitter thread from Screen Junkies’ Dan Murrell. According to him the PR team of Gotti has manipulated the user ratings by creating fake accounts to rate higher on Rotten Tomatoes. As most of the accounts who reviewed the movie are recently created and reviewed only one movie- Gotti. There is something rotten, of course.
I went to take a look at the written reviews on RT and of the first 58 reviewers with an available profile 45 had created their account on June 2018; out of these 45, 32 have only reviewed Gotti, 10 reviewed Gotti and another movie (7 times it was American Animals for some reason) and 3 had more than 3 reviews.
Of the remaining 13 accounts, 8 looked normal and 5 had created their account in December (The Last Jedi?) so those were probably legit.
Okay, I’ll just come out and say it. Some party involved with Gotti artificially manipulated the audience scores and they’re now using it as a marketing strategy. The numbers don’t make sense. Even if that weren’t true, this is a divisive & desperate way to sell a film. https://t.co/Q5jznjNRSx

Worsening the situation they took the matter to Twitter by demeaning the critics. The official page of Gotti film which has a zero score on Rotten Tomatoes posed an interesting question in a very rude way to critics along with a teaser video. The question targeting the viewers was — “Who would you trust more? Yourself or a troll behind a keyboard?”
Audiences loved Gotti but critics don’t want you to see it… The question is why??? Trust the people and see it for yourself! pic.twitter.com/K6a9jAO4UH

The same Reddit user also mentioned how it is easy to manipulate ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and we could not agree more with him:
Also it shows how easy it is to manipulate these review sites, so please don’t just look at numbers when deciding if a movie is worth your money but listen to some trusted reviewers.
We want to mention that not only Rotten Tomatoes ratings but with a big brigading team any ratings can be manipulated on any platform. With all these details it is safe to say that something is off and rotten here with Gotti reviews. But what would we know because “we are Just bunch of trolls behind the keyboard.”
