Private Search Engine DuckDuckGo Has Record Breaking More Than 1 Billion Searches in January 2019

DuckDuckGo is becoming one of the most popular search engines after Google Search Engine. The popularity of DDG can be confirmed from the data displayed on the DuckDuckGo site itself. Users started looking for alternates to Google because of their ill practices of user data tracking and using it for additional profits.
Private Search Engine DuckDuckGo Has Record Breaking More Than 1 Billion Searches in January 2019
Now DuckDuckGo has broken the record in January 2019 by serving 1 billion searches in one month worldwide.
1 Billion! That’s how many monthly searches we served in January. (Yes, that’s a record.) We’re publicly loving this very private start to 2019 🙂🎉 pic.twitter.com/8FS0QcGhJ2

From the data displayed on their site, we can see that their traffic has increased 78% from last year traffic of 654 million served in January 2018.
It is not the first record broken by DuckDuckGo, last month DuckDuckGo handled 36.4 million searches in a single day on January 29, 2019. Here is the screenshot of the search traffic data of January month:
In December 2018, DuckDuckGo did a study in which it showed Google customizes search results even when the user is logged out of their account from the browser, creating a “filter bubble”. Of course, denied and discredited the research done by DuckDuckgo.
One interesting thing happened in December when Google transferred possession of Duck.com to DuckDuckGo. Previously Duck.com was redirecting to Google homepage. It was actually shocking and good for most of the users why would Google handover their domain to ‘DuckDuckGo’. In a statement Gabriel said:
We’re pleased Google has chosen to transfer ownership of Duck.com to DuckDuckGo. Having Duck.com will make it easier for people to use DuckDuckGo.
This may have also contributed to the increased traffic of DuckDuckGo in December 2018 and January 2019.
Whatever the case may be but DuckDuckGo looks to be on user side not in the collaboration of big industries, with their proposition of: “The big tech companies are taking advantage of you by selling your data. We won’t.”
Well, DuckDuckGo is getting the momentum and fame it deserves with its non-monitoring policies. Apparently, We can assume DuckDuckGo to be the biggest contender in being the anti-Google search engine in future.
